For artists who want to spend studio time making art {instead of wondering about your style, your process, and who's going to like it}.
Get the essentials in place so you can focus on the fun part. 😊👩🏼🎨
A happy artist has cultivated a distinctive voice, a reliable process, and a practice that fits and evolves with who you are and the life you have right now.
Happy Artist Essentials helps you get those puzzle pieces in place, so you know what you're doing when you go into the studio and can thrive beyond it too.
OOH YES, THIS IS FOR MEIntroducing
Happy Artist Essentials
A course that guides you in getting your artistic ducks in a row, so you can make your art without all the extra kerfuffle.

More clarity
When you know what you're doing and how you do it, you don't have to keep reinventing the wheel.
More headspace
The internal backchat can get loud and confusing. Less of that means more space for creativity.
More time
Your art doesn't have to come last; it just needs to find its place in a full life. Less guilt, more fulfilment.
Being an artist is a bit like doing a Rubiks Cube
We're always twisting and turning it to try and get everything lined up.
{Which is time we could be spending actually making our art.}
It's so easy to get caught up in...
- what kind of art we want to make
- finding time to create
- worrying about other people's opinions
- feeling overwhelmed by the supplies, possibilities, and studio chaos
- wishing we actually had a studio
- a tangle of too many ideas
- not feeling confident in our artistic skills and decisions
- fears around showing our work
- fears that no one will see - or like - our work
- staying 'consistent'
... sound familiar?
{If so, it's not just you, and there's nothing wrong with you or how you're doing things. Just needs a bit of attention and refining!}
So what do we tend to do?
We try more things; we keep turning that cube.
Another painting course here, a social media course there.
A new technique, a different subject, that fancy new paint you heard another artist raving about.
Sometimes we get derailed by a rejection or a passing comment, or art that just won't do what we want it to do.
The Rubiks Cube seems to somehow be getting more complex.
More colours are appearing on it, we can't see the wood for the trees, and and we're not making the art - or the progress - we'd like to be.
🤯
And ... breathe. 😉
The good news is, there's a solution that's a lot easier than a Rubiks Cube.
{Well, unless you're one of those clever people who can do them in five minutes.😉}
And there's no pressure to 'solve' being an artist, because we're organic, evolving humans with full and ever changing lives.
When we get in that tangle - and we all do sometimes - it doesn't have to be complicated or difficult to find a way through.
{And you can still do the courses and buy the new supplies!}
It's about identifying the key pieces, and putting those in place, so they can act as guideposts to support you in developing as an artist, while honouring who you are and the life you have right now.
This course is for you if you:
- Have made quite a bit of art {recently or in the past} but are confused about what's 'yours'
- Struggle with how erratic your art making time is
- Get easily derailed by opinions, feedback, criticism etc
- Have dreams for your art but resist planning, so they tend not to happen
- Want to develop a practice that actually works for you
- Have some 'stuff' around sharing your art {whether for sale or for funsies}
You don't need this one if you:
- Are clear on your artist voice and joyfully making consistent art
- Are in the studio regularly and already have a thriving art practice that suits you
- Are happy with what you're making and where your artist life is going
- Feel pretty resilient when it comes to feedback/opinions
- Have tools and experience in managing the tricky mindset stuff

Hello, I'm Tara
I'm an artist, author, teacher, and creator of the Happy Artist Studio. I help artists to find their way through the colourful maze to establish their voice, a solid practice, and the confidence to create and share the art that feels true to them.
I created Happy Artist Essentials because I know what it's like to feel lost in that maze, wanting to make art that feels like mine, to feel like I'm making progress on my dreams and goals, and to develop a practice that works with my actual life, not the life I wish I had!
You don't have to make art every day, or have a dedicated studio, or a degree, or really follow any of the rules 'out there' to be a happy artist. Sometimes we all need help sifting through it all for the gold that is our unique way of doing things, that's all.
Happy Artist Essentials will help you do just that, so you can make your art, your way, and feel really good about it.
