For artists who want to better understand colour ... and do not love a colour wheel.
Feel a bit daunted by colour and how to use it in your art?
Colour theory is a huge field that people have devoted their whole lives to understanding.Â
It can feel overwhelming to know how to begin to use it confidently.
But you don't need to read all the books and make all the colour wheels to make resonant, meaningful, true-to-you art.
Getting to grips with colour is part trusting your own innate colour sense, part knowing how colours play together {the theory}, and part try it and see.
Sometimes you just need a starting point to get a foot in the door, so you can begin to make your own exciting colour discoveries.
The Explore Colour Intuitively workshop gives you that, for just $9.
YES PLEASE!Welcome to:

What students are saying:
"Oh that was fun, although I am a happy swatcher of colours, I also find colour wheels a rather dull thing to create and never refer back to them. I grabbed a greeting card from my box of randoms and then took it to my watercolours to play and find the colours in it."
Sarah Pickering
"Loved watching this exercise. Very freeing. I too both love colour and relate to it intuitively. The colour wheel leaves me cold and I donât really know how to use it. Itâs a very scientific approach - maybe thatâs why many artists donât like it, including me! ... Being undecided about what colour to use can really block me so this method frees me up to apply the paint and not get hung up on âwhat colour should I use now?!â
"I have the same relationship to color wheels as you do, Tara. I often struggle with backgrounds, both when it comes to color and texture.
Watching your video gave me the inspiration to experiment with a pallette beforehand so that I have some kind understanding of the whole picture. Otherwise, I end up mixing colors on the canvas which can end up in a big mess."

Hellođ, I'm Tara
I help artists like you go beyond the copying and step by step 'how tos' to discover what you want to say with your art, and how you want to express your distinctive, unique artist self.
I created this mini workshop originally for the lovely folks in the Happy Artist Studio, my membership for artists that's all about developing your artist voice and practice in a way that feels sustainable and true to you.
You wouldn't believe how many times I've talked with artists and heard them say how much they dislike the colour wheel as a way to learn about colour!
I always thought it was just me. There are so many other ways to learn about and gain confidence and joy in using colour in our art, and one of my favourites is the one I share in this workshop.
So I've brought it out of the membership to help you if you feel a bit daunted by colour and need a fun {and infinitely reusable!} place to start. đ
Step away from the colour wheel and into a more playful and intuitive approach to understanding colour!
In 20 minutes you'll have an exercise you can use whenever you want to explore the possibilities of a new colour palette, and greater confidence when mixing your own.
