So fun seeing into your creative spaces yesterday, as we get to know each other {and maybe even ourselves} a little better, prompt by prompt.
Lots of 'spare room studios' and corners of rooms, or even corners of tables!
Even if the holy grail is a dedicated studio space, there are plenty of unexpected benefits to making our art in other places, like the kitchen. 😉 #snacks
So, you may remember, if you're a 21 days veteran, that today's prompt used to be 'artist hands'.
And then I changed it, because I thought we'd be a bit more daring {not least because it's quite hard to photograph your own hands}, and go for the full selfie!
If this fills you with horror, fear not. No one has to do anything they're uncomfortable with at all.
I will just make these two points:
1. Selfies typically get a lot more engagement than other types of photos, because we actually love to see each other and put a face to the artwork we've been enjoying. So if you're brave enough to share one I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
2. If you're wanting to sell your work, collectors tend to like to feel connected to you as an artist, and a photo of you will do that better than anything {except meeting you in person obvs}.
Oh wait, also:
3. It doesn't have to be your face taking up the whole screen. Check out my
Artists at Play Pinterest board for millions of ideas for including yourself in a photo.
You could lean your phone against something and set the timer on your camera, have someone take a quick snap for you, or use a tripod if you've got one and are super fancy. 😊
Bonus points for doing it in your studio - you could be painting/making, or in front of your work - so we can see you in your natural habitat.
And if it really is just one step too far for you right now, feel free to switch back to the original Artist Hands prompt {
Pinterest board for that}. There's a hashtag on Instagram called #myhandsmaking, which you could use too if you go this route.
